Kids Pioneer Primary School

It was Saturday, 26th July, when Kids Pioneer Primary School hosted the 2nd edition of the Pioneer Knights Open Junior Chess Challenge.

This year’s edition saw a total of 179 participants from about 20 schools, which was almost twice last year’s edition, which had 90 participants. Among others, visiting schools included Kisubi High School, Peak Primary School, St. Andrew Kaggwa Gombe High School, Manifest International School, and Elite Junior School.

A total of 42 medals, 6 smartphones (Itel A70 Awesome), 6 smartwatches, and 6 Bluetooth speakers were gifted to the best participants in each of the age categories:
– U7 & U9
– U11 & U13
– U15, U17 & U19

The participants dined together at lunch. Certificates were also awarded to each participant.

Great gratitude to the various school administrators, coaches, players, and parents. Without their support, the event couldn’t have been a success.

Special gratitude to Mr. Were Ronald, the headteacher of Kids Pioneer Primary School, for his tireless support of the chess program in the school. Much gratitude also to Mr. Jude Kalanzi, Great Thinkers Chess Academy, and International Arbiter Kimera Innocent for officiating the event so professionally. Much appreciation as well to Mr. Tage Budorlfsen, Mrs. Dorte Budorlfsen, and Mr. Kaj Ostergard.
